Small Potatoes In The Big Apple

I know I'm small potatoes in the Big Apple, but I've been itching to do a show there for a LONG time. Thanks to an invitation from my friend and fellow singer-songwriter, Bianca Merkley, I'll be doing an acoustic set right after her on 11-11-11 at Rockwood Music Hall. 7 PM. It will be grand, I tell you. There's not even a door charge, so there's no excuse not to come if you live in NYC. Details on this lovely poster that Bianca's husband designed:

P.S. Have you seen Kaskade's new Fire and Ice album? Currently #4 on all of iTunes. (I'm a guest artist on that album just so you know). REALLY excited about this! Go check it out.

What a Weekend

WOW. What a weekend. On Friday, I had the lovely opportunity of being the keynote speaker at an event for creative women called Spark. I met some really inspiring ladies and reveled in the joy of handmade art.

Saturday is a big, long, blur of puppets, cameras, lights and laughter. We filmed the music video for "Winter Moon" with a hoard of puppets and I don't know if I've ever had so much fun in all my life. More details soon . . .

Morocco Retreat!

I have a lovely friend. Her name is April Meeker. She is artsy. She is spontaneous. She is a risk-taker. I adore those qualities in any woman. One day she called me up and asked me if I would like to go on a creative retreat somewhere exotic with other like-minded women. And why wouldn't I want to do that? So, I said "YES" in an instant. It all happened so fast, but soon were making plans for an adventure in Marrakesh, Morocco. We are over-the-top excited to be hosting a creative retreat for women at the Peacock Pavillions in Marrakesh in October 2012 and we want you to come. Space is limited. So, go ahead, click that button over there on the sidebar that says: "Casbah Creative Retreat" and read all about it.

The Reinvention of a Dress

My little sister Lindsey and I were recently discussing our love of vintage clothes and how to reinvent them when she recommended that I check out Sarah Choi's blog. So I did and I fell in love with her work. Sarah has an amazing eye for fashion and how to remake that dress in your closet that you've saved for a decade. So I was more than thrilled when she agreed to reinvent a red tulle tent dress that I've been sitting on for a while.

I went to Sarah's house in Provo, UT for my fitting. Let's get one thing straight: Sarah is beautiful. You can't not look at her (and I mean that in the least creepy way possible). She took some simple notes on the changes I wanted to make to the dress. I asked her if she needed to measure anything and she smiled and said that she just uses her eye. What? Amazing.

Not only is Sarah beautiful, but her persona emits such light and joy.

Here's a sneak peak of BEFORE

And AFTER.
Next week, I'll be filming the music video for "Winter Moon" in this dress.
Stay tuned . . .

Balancing Baby and Music

Photo by Wendy Whitaker of www.bluelilyphoto.com

You know what's funny? It's funny that for the longest time, the idea of being a stay-at-home mom was very hard for me. But lately, all I feel like doing is staying at home and being a mom. That is why I have 10,000 unanswered emails. That is why blog posts are fewer. And that is why I haven't returned that voice mail you left three weeks ago. I'm sure I'll get itching to fly across the world again. But right now, this is how it should be.

P.S. I'm resting up for some Christmas tour dates in a few months. Hope you can come!
