Pasco, Washington!

The orchards of Washington state sprawl across the countryside on the drive from the Spokane airport to Pasco. It is my first time performing in Washington and I am anxious to see the red barn that concert promoter Marilyn Lott has chosen for my show. A red barn in the middle of Washington's cornfields and apple orchards? Sounds amazing. Nonetheless, it IS a barn that has recently housed animals. But the smells, the remnants of straw and even the flies take me right back to my childhood and I love all of it.

Marilyn Lott (aka, "The Passionista") is an encyclopedia of indie music. This woman knows her stuff when it comes to bands and good tunes. Plus, she knows how to promote and put on a totally pro event. How do I know this?
She sold out my show a week before the date.

(Thanks to Lee Ann Norris for these first two pictures. She does beautiful work!)

Marilyn and her husband are blueberry farmers. Organic blueberries. Doesn't that sound like a life from a storybook? I love it.

The Country Mercantile (where the concert was held) has a giant warehouse full of fresh farm produce and old fashioned jars of treats. So juicy!

Turns out I have a lot of family in the Tri-Cities. Aunt Connie (who traded glasses with me) showed up with her amazing family (aka, the Haueter and Heaps cousins!). I love this woman.

And Danyelle Mathews of Dandee Designs came as well and crafted the most darling banner for the event. I'll be using it in all my future shows.

Thanks Marilyn, and thanks to the Tri-Cities for packing the red Mercantile barn to the brim. Until next time!

  1. was a fabulous show! both you and lauren had such wonderful sets. i'd been prepping my hubby with your cd for the past week! lol. well actually, i'd just been loving it and listening to it, but it was a good thing as he knew which of your songs were my faves, and some of the back stories made him chuckle. some aha moments happened that night. it was divine. thank you!
on another note, my daughter was all ready for school a little early this morning, and so she started tinkering with the sheet music you autographed for her! it was a delightful way to start the morning. (:
    have a great week.
