From New York to L.A.

Last weekend, Noni (aka "Mom") accompanied me and Griff to New York City. I couldn't have done it without her. Here we are, on the airplane. Griffin was a champion on the flight.

The first morning in the Big Apple was spent with my dear friend Hailey Smith. If you've ever been to one of my shows with the Thrillionaires improv comedy group, then you've seen Hailey. We caught up over pumpkin waffles at a darling little cafe called "Penelope's."

Later that night, I did a show with Bianca Merkley at Rockwood Music Hall. It was shoulder to shoulder in there. Just the way I like to see a music venue.

Let's ignore my abnormally long neck in this picture and concentrate on how beautiful Bianca's smile is. Let's also ignore the bursting buttons on my dress. At one point when the evening was through, I looked down and discovered that each and every one of my buttons had come undone. What can I say? I just had a baby and "my cups runneth over" when I'm away from him for certain periods of time.

I have never been to NYC without making time for a flea market. I took Noni to "The Garage" to hunt for treasures. She found this vintage quilt top for only $30!

The next night in New York was one I'll never forget. I did a private house concert for Natalie Holbrook, who is best known as Nat the Fat Rat. We squished together in the living room of Nat's apartment and I shared songs with everyone while they ate delicacies such as chocolate dipped oreos and microwave popcorn.

Spencer Harrison played guitar for me and opened with a few of his own songs. Spencer has a voice that will melt you like butter.

I rocked my favorite red boots.

And it was such a treat at the end of the night to get to sing "The Christmas Song" with Natalie. When the show was over, someone came up to me and lo and behold, pointed out that my buttons were starting to come undone during my performance. (Totally different dress this time too!). I think I'll just start to tell people that it's part of the show.
Many thanks to Bianca and the Natalie for helping to set up these shows!

What's on the books for this weekend? I'm performing a sold out acoustic concert at the Queen Bee Market in San Diego!!! Hooray!
