Loving this picture of my little guy with Uncle Dusty.
Have you ever booked a family vacation out of the country and arrived at the airport only to discover that your kids' passports have expired? Of course you haven't. But I certainly did last Saturday as all of the Gledhills convened at the Salt Lake City airport for a much anticipated trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. When I discovered my faux pas, it was all I could do not to regurgitate my breakfast.
We stayed at the airport for 5 hours trying to figure out how to get to Mexico. Finally, we concluded that we could make it if we flew to San Francisco to get new passports issued there. It took us 3 days and our life savings, but we finally got the passports by the skin of our teeth and made it for the second half of the Mexico trip. Anything to make make a few family memories, right? It was certainly a trip we'll never forget.

I hope the holiday was fabulous after all that!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is just not a fun thing to have happened. I hope the days you did have in Mexico were fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a chapter out of the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day! I hope the rest of the trip was relaxing and fun! My only brother's name is Dustin, who my girls affectionately call "Uncle Dusty"-- with one of those on the trip, it had to be great!
ReplyDeleteThat is awful! I am sure you will laugh about this in a few years. My husband and I left for a cruise to Mexico and realized we had left our passports at home (in Utah) and we were in California. Thankfully we were able to have family members email birth certificates at the last minute. Stressful! Hope you had fun despite the situation1
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear, but that exact same thing happened to me last year. Ready to head out to St Martin and my poor daughters passport had expired. To add icing to the cake, we are Australians living in Texas and there is no Australian Consulate here. Long story short after 3 days of courier mailing and phone calls we made it to St. Martin for a few days of R & R. And yes now l can somewhat laugh a little at it. Hope you enjoyed your vacation :)
