I saw my friend, April Meeker, tweet the link to this video yesterday. I have long been obsessed with typography. If you also love it, then you will want to feast your eyes upon this:

Sur mes lèvres

Today I did vocals for a recording session which was seasoned with a few steamy words in French like "le vouloir" and "sur mes lèvres." I went to an international school in Spain for three years in which we had a French immersion class, so I do speak some and it is the most delicious feeling to speak in French, let alone sing it.

My good friend Aaron Ashton engineered the session. Aaron is mostly known for his virtuosic violin skills. The last session I had with Aaron was actually to sing a French-inspired song called "Ooh-La-La-De-Da,"on his album, Split the Difference. You simply must have a listen here. You'll feel like you're at a sidewalk café in Paris.
P.S. Speaking of cafés, tomorrow night I'll be doing a FREE acoustic show for the Sundance Film Festival at the Beehive Tea Room in Salt Lake City. It's not Paris, but it's the cutest café in all of Salt Lake, I guarantee it. Come! (And order the Lavender tea with cream and honey. You won't regret it).

Say it With Music

Stop Motion

Making music videos is a process that has completely bewitched and bedazzled me this last year. I'm currently finishing up the music video for my song "Whole Wide World," and embarking on the filming for yet another music video (which I will officially announce soon!). For now, I'm collecting videos that inspire me and I wanted to share this Oren Lavie video with you that my little sister turned me on to. The stop motion is so amazing. Sweet News

A few days ago I had a hankering for a cupcake. I knew right where to go to satisfy my cupcake needs. The Sweet Tooth Fairy has the most heaven-sent goodies in the universe and their VaNIElla Cupcake (named after my lovely friend Nie Nie) knocks my socks off every time.

I also had my eye on the Strawberry Shortcake variety, but I'll have to try those next time.

The fairy in the adorable pink hankie (Macy) boxed up the object of my desire and sent me on my way.

GOOD NEWS: The Sweet Tooth Fairy is providing a complimentary dessert table at my Valentine's concert at Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo, UT on Saturday, February 12th. There's nothing I'd love more than to see you and your Valentine sitting out in the audience, with frosting and cakebite crumbs on your lips. The show starts at 8:00 p.m. so there's plenty of time to go and grab some dinner beforehand in historic, downtown Provo (but save room for dessert!). A Random Post About My Ebay Purchases

Tonight I was looking at the items I've purchased on Ebay in the recent past and I wondered if one could draw certain conclusions about another by looking at their Ebay purchase history.

Winter BLAHS!!!

While it IS true that I am the proud owner of the neighborhood's most prize-winning icicles, I really need to say that:

I AM SICK OF WINTER.

I've been suffering a little lately from a case of the winter blahs. What can I do? What do YOU do when you feel this way?

At least I'll be able to get away this weekend to sunny Southern California to see the screening of this documentary on twins who survived Cystic Fibrosis in which "Anchor" is part of the soundtrack. That's something to look forward to, right?

But until then I'll just continue to wear a Snugge and snowboots 24/7. (HELP ME).

New Year. New Hair.

Take Heart

Every week I receive emails from aspiring artists, often with a link to a video of their work. They all seem to ask the same questions: "How did you get started in music? What advice can you give me about making it in the music industry?"

While I feel deep appreciation for these sincere inquiries, I'm always amused at the notion that someone thinks that I have "made it" in the music industry. In a way, I guess I've "made a place" for myself in the music industry, but trust me, I too would also really like to know how one "makes it."

I feel like I'm constantly working on learning and improving and I try to focus on being happy with the progress I've made and where I'm at, rather than on how far I have to go. But to my friends who feel stuck, or who feel lost in your endeavors in whatever path you are on, maybe this little article that Utah Valley Magazine wrote up on me may help you take heart.

New Year's Resolution

The holidays have left me fried and I am admittedly entering this new year with as much pizazz as a doorstop. Geez, I can't even come up with my own awesome post. All I could do was think to steal these incredible photos from my sister's blog. She studies photography at the U of U. Aren't these photos exquisite?

So, I conclude at the end of this very half-baked post, that I am going to cook up a better blog in 2010. More to come on that (when I've recovered from Post-Holiday-Stress-Syndrome).
