Los 12 Días de Navidad - A Giveaway

My dear, lovely friends. I have appreciated your support so much this year with the release of Anchor. I want to do something for you every day from now until Christmas here on my blog. It might be giving away a signed CD, a cool piece of jewelry, or perhaps a song.

But today, it is a tutu.

Over a week ago, I was filming scenes for the upcoming music video for "Whole Wide World." We did this one scene with ballerinas at the bar. They are so incredibly beautiful to watch.

I wore a red tutu in the scene and today for the First day of Christmas, I am giving away my beloved tutu. It's actually a little girl's size 5, but it's so stretchy that it obviously could fit a grown woman. How cool would it be if you won this for a little girl you know? Then, when the video comes out, you can tell her that her tutu is the one in the video?

Feel free to share this with your friends, but all you really have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me
your favorite Christmas tradition. Come back again tomorrow for another surprise! Happy Holidays!

  1. Every year on Christmas Eve my whole family gets together at my grandmas. We haven't missed one in the whole 20 years I've been alive. It's my favorite thing every year.

  3. home-made idle isle chocolates (just like the ones in brigham city!) and blue hawaiian punch. its not christmas in our family without either of them! :) great tutu.

  4. FUN! My favorite Christmas tradition growing up was spending Christmas Eve at my grandparents. Now that I'm married and living far from my grandparents, I'm lucky that my husbands family does the same, so we can carry on the tradition at his Grandmas!

  6. My favorite tradition: Christmas eve with my little family, eating pumpkin pie and watching The Polar Express. We all wear our new cozy pj's, grab our comfiest blankets + pillows and relax under the Christmas tree lights.

My little Abby would LOVE to own that cute red tutu. It would be such a fun Christmas surprise!

  7. oh please, pretty please, i would love that tutu for my little elenita who is 7 years old and a budding ballerina!
my favorite christmas tradition is when we get ready for christmas! opening the boxes of decorations, reminiscing in christmases pasts, smelling the smells, listening to the christmas carols and then baking christmas cookies with my three little ones. that to me is pure happiness! add a sprinkling of snow and it's almost heaven!

  8. Tutu + Converse = Fabulous!

My favourite tradition is to read the Christmas story to my children by the lights of the tree on Christmas Eve after we return home from the carol service at church.

  10. my favorite family tradition . . . long ago when everyone was little . . . they chose their favorite Christmas dessert . . . and I made them each their own. My son chose caramel brownies, my daughter chose a mississippi mud cake, another daughter chose a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting ... another chose chocolate mousse. It was a lot of work but they talked about it for many years.

  11. oh, a favorite family tradition is a gathering with all my family at my aunts house (30+ people) we have a secret santa gift swap, amazing food, a visit from santa, so much love and fun!

  12. CUTE!! One of my favorite Christmas traditions is singing Christmas songs by candlelight and retelling the nativity. Then on Christmas morning we eat yummy cinnamon rolls and open our presents! :)

  13. My favorite Christmas tradition is listening to "The Forgotten Carols." I listened to them for the first time while serving on my mission many years ago and it brought a spirit to Christmas that forever changed how I felt about the season. And now that my 16 year-old daughter can play them on the piano I am even more in love with them.

  14. Ok, first, my little girl would LOOOOVE this. Whole Wide World is her favorite song (of course she calls it the little girl song) and she thinks it is all about her ;)

My favorite holiday tradition is helping my kiddos act out the Christmas story every year. They get their costumes and do such a good job. It is so fun and it is something I did as a little girl.

  15. Making steaming cups of hot chocolate and touring the neighborhood homes decorated with lights - that's my favorite tradition :). My sister, who was a ballerina, is having a baby girl and I would love to be able to gift this tutu to her.

  16. Every Christmas of my childhood was spent at my Grandma's house in Vernal, Utah - and we lived in California. So, every Christmas meant traveling to Utah for our Christmas holiday. My favorite tradition - on Christmas Eve we were allowed to open one present from Grandma - and it was always handmade pjs. So, we'd open our pjs and change right into them - just in time to gather around the tree for my dad to read Luke 2, sing carols and hymns, and enjoy the spirit of Christmas. And even though my Grandma died 10 years ago, and I now have a family of my own - the pjs on Christmas Eve is a tradition that I have continued. (I'm so excited to watch my little girl open her Cinderella nightgown this year! And to be honest - and maybe a little brazen - I would also love to see the look on her face if we were chosen to receive your cute tutu!)

  17. Oh how FUN! My favorite Christmas tradition is eating Christmas breakfast... homemade cinnamon rolls (that we make the day before), orange and banana cinnamon fruit salad, crispy bacon and champagne! Been doing it since I was a little girl, and 34 years later, still doing it.

  18. What a fun giveaway! My favorite tradition is filling the little advent house I have with treats for my son. He wakes up excited all 24 days leading up to Christmas :)

  20. Oh I know a little girl that would {love} a red tutu!

Christmas is our favorite holiday around here, there are too many favorites to choose from ... this time I will say that we love when daddy reads his book "You Better Watch Out" to us right before bed!

  21. Every year, since I was a child, we would all bundle up and head to the market with my dad to pick out our beloved Christmas tree. Same market, same vendor every year, then head back home (mom and dad's house) for a nice warm lunch that my mother prepares while we are out in the cold. Now we are all grown with our own families but fortunate enough to all still be living in the area and every year we bundle up our families and all meet up at the market to pick our trees, still from the SAME vendor, throw them all into the back of dad's truck and head back for a nice hot lunch prepared by mom.

  22. My daughter would love the tutu...and it would be just her size...and she LOVES you. My fav. tradition would be our family christmas eve party -- pinata, gift exchange, and christmas story. It's the best.

    ReplyDelete
  23. My daughter absolutely loves you! She was the one who was waving to you while you were backstage and came up after the show to get a picture with you. She named her fish "Mindy Gledhill" and she would love nothing more than to have an official Mindy Gledhill tutu.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is getting an ornament for each person in our family that reminds us of them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. oh how fun! we would always go to church on Christmas eve, the movies, and then come home and open one gift handpicked by my parents- always pjs, always perfect. love this giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's a new tradition that I started about 3 years ago. Its simple, but effective. I eat ALL the treats that my neighbors give to us, before my husband even gets home from work. Its genius really.

    ReplyDelete
  26. We buy an ornament each year for each person in the family. When the kids leave home they will have all the ornaments from their childhood to take with them for their first Christmas tree away from home.

    ReplyDelete
  27. My favorite tradition is going to my Mom and Dads with my kids on Christmas Eve and having their famous white grape Christmas drink by the tree and reading Twas the night before Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  28. We get a new Christmas book to add to our collection. We read them each night until Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  29. every year, 'ralphie' our christmas elf, brings the kids their christmas jammers on the first of december. that way they can wear them for the whole month, rather than just a bit.
and, like susan above, all four of my kids have all picked out their ornament each year. it's so fun getting out our boxes of ornaments and letting the kids see all the ones from the past years. then, when they are older and out on their own, they will get to take their special ornaments with them. :)
we also love to go get hot chocolate and drive around during the evenings of december and look at all of the beautiful christmas lights.
my daughter would LOVE LOVE LOVE this! all my kids love singing to anchor in the car! they have most of the songs memorized we listen to it so much! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Love the tutu. My daughter would go bananas for it!

It's hard to pick just one favorite tradition. I guess I'd say it would be Christmas Eve where we all gather together with extended family and just thoroughly enjoy one another. The kids are besides themselves with anticipation for the next morning. Adults are mesmerized by the good food, the good music and the excitement that the kids are sprinkling all over the place. It's magical!

  31. Every year when we put up the Christmas tree, "Santa's Bird" mysteriously appears. He's a red cardinal, that moves from place to place in the house and keeps an eye on the girls (who will share the tutu if we win it ;) to make sure they are behaving. The bird has a lot of power at my house. :)They never see him move, but the first thing they do when they come in from school is to check and see where he is.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Too fun! We have so many. One of my favorites is having to wear all of the clothes we get while opening gifts Christmas morning. Laughs all morning and they make fun pictures too. :) Merry Christmas to you and your family, Mindy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. My favorite Christmas tradition is baking cookies on Christmas Eve for Santa and then sitting by the tree as we read the Christmas story.

    ReplyDelete
  34. every year for christmas we get a brick of shells (shot gun, .30.30, .22 and such) in our stockings. after we (my 4 siblings,me, and my dad) open up our presents we go out to the hills behind our house and go shooting. as we are riding the 4 wheelers up to the spot we pick up any bottles we can find to shoot. since we live in NM there is never a shortage of bottles.

    ReplyDelete
  35. My favorite christmas tradition is going to SLC with all my siblings and my kids cousins. Spending time together as a famiily-swimming in the pool, eating, playing games and all part of the fun filled weekend-all thanks to grandma and grandpa.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We just started a new Christmas tradition last year. We started our morning out caroling with a group of people at two of the local nursing homes. My 4 kiddos loved it and it made the day so much more amazing. Can't wait to do it again!

  37. My favorite Christmas tradition is Christmas eve. We always had a fiesta filled with friends and family! As the years have passed we have lost loved ones and others have grown up married or moved away. Now I too am married and have made our own traditions. We still do the fiesta but its changed up a bit and still great memories in the making!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Every year my whole family gets together on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts, and eat Rueben sandwiches. Nothing says Christmas like corned beef and sauerkraut, right? We're all a little crazy, but we love each other and our tradition.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have two favorites. The first is the bells. All six of us kids go to sleep with a cowbell on Christmas Eve. When we wake up, we're allowed to give one single ring. If anyone else is awake, they can give a ring back. You're not allowed to sit there ringing ringing ringing. When all six bells are ringing, then we can wake up and open presents. Of course, we break the rules and sneak into eachothers rooms, wake everyone up, then go back and start ringing. :)
My other favorite tradition is our Shepherds Dinner. We sit around the tree eating pita bread, hummus, olives, cheese, etc. And listen to a recording of actors acting out going to see the infant Savior. We talk about Him being the good Shepherd and how we can follow Him.
    Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My cousin passed away 3 days after his 6th birthday, which also happens to be 6 days before Christmas from a heart condition no one else in the entire world has ever had. Every year our Christmas tradition is to buy a bunch of balloons (one of my cousin's favorite things in the entire world) and release them into the sky to reach him in Heaven. My grandpa passed away earlier this year so this year we'll be releasing extra balloons to Heaven for both of them this year! :)

  41. We have a tradition of selecting a family in our ward. We then give them a nativity scene piece by piece over 7 or 8 days depending on how many pieces there are in the natvity set. Each piece has a poem to go with it. I let the kids door bell ditch. That way the family doesn't know who sent it to them. My oldest is 11 and we have done this snce she was about 4. My gang loves doing this and fight to be the one that gets to leave the baby Jesus. :)
    Merry Christmas

    ReplyDelete
  42. when I was a child my favorite tradition was "Secret Pals" which is like Secret Santas within the family. We'd pick the names on Thanksgiving, do acts and leave gifts for them & the big reveal was on Christmas Eve.

Now my fave tradition is putting up the sheet to hide the family room on Christmas Eve. It's very dramatic and then the kids can't even sneak a peak until we are all ready to see the magic on Christmas morning together

  43. Hiking in the Superstition Mountains in AZ, then a yummy tamale/beans/rice dinner with all the family. Oh and how can you forget eating yummy AZ oranges?

    ReplyDelete
  44. On Christmas morning, there were two options for breakfast. My dad would make potato latkes, which usually only he and mom would eat. Then us kids ate Christmas Cap'n Crunch!!!! So classy :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. My favourite Christmas tradition is our street party where everyone who lives in the road gets together to eat, drink and sing carols :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. We all wear red tutus (even the gentlemen), and we perform a dance choreographed by Grandma to Sleigh Bells. This has gone on without fail for generations. NOT REALLY! BUT, WE COULD START A NEW TRADITION. :)

Seriously, we have so many traditions that I love! Traditions are what help to make this time of the year so magical. Especially for the kids.

We are so blessed as a family! My favorite part of Christmas is sharing those blessings. It needs to be a sacrafice, and the kids need to be emotionally involved. We had our extended family Christmas party this past weekend, and rather than having the smaller children exchange gifts, they had to choose something selfless and Christlike to do for someone else. Everyone shared their experience. Lots of tears were shed. Christmas is a great time to do something that Jesus would do if he were here.

We have some silly ones too, but this tradition is my favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Love this tutu! When I was a kid we used to go to the church right behind my grandma's house and watch the living nativity every year. My grandma passed away before my daughter was born but I still take my kids to the living nativity each year. Wish I could take them over to grandma's for hot cocoa afterward. :)

I lost track of my boys the other day for a few minutes at home (they are 5 and 2.5) found them mesmerized in front of the computer watching your video for Anchor. My daughter had set them up and they were completely spellbound!

    ReplyDelete
  48. My favorite is staying in jammies most of the day playing with all of our stuff we got as kids, and playing with all the siblings' toys too. Never a mean word said on that day. It was nice to have *one* day where we (siblings) would all be friends :).

    ReplyDelete
  49. Every year since I was born my parents got me an ornament. Now that I'm married, we have a tree full of Christmas memories as we keep the tradition going! (Only I will always have more ornaments than my husband... so sad for him) :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Eating linguica on Christmas morning! (and waffles, if you like 'traditional' breakfast foods) :) So fun to dress up in a tutu!

  51. I love your songs so much!! one of my favorite christmas traditions is going to the nutcracker ballet with my mom and my nieces!! thanks for such an awesome giveaway! :)

  52. About 5 years ago I made a stocking for one of my kids for Christmas. It had the nativity on it, but when it came time to put their name on it, I couldn't do it. So instead I put sewed Jesus on it. Since then, every Christmas eve wmy family sits down and we write out what our Christmas gift is going to be for Jesus this year. And on Christmas morning before we open any other present we open up Jesus' stocking and we read the gifts we are going to give him. And we promise to do these things for the entire year. Then the next Christmas eve, a year later, we reread them and check to see how we did during the year. Some examples are: I will share with my sisters. I will not fight with anyone this year. etc. It has become a wonderful tradition that my whole famiy participates in, even the extended family now.

  53. One of my favorite traditions is opening ONE present on Christmas Eve, then checking the NORAD website to see where Santa is. It gets the kiddos really excited, and, I'll admit, me, too ;)

  54. I buy a new ornament for the tree each year that represents something we did as a family that year. This year, I "cheated" a bit and bought multiple ornaments because we went on a 19-day cross-country trip and saw some of THE most amazing sites the USA has to offer. There was no way I could pick just ONE ornament to represent it all, so I found 5!! (Historic Philadelphia, Boston, and Mount Vernon to name a few...)
I'm DYING for Christmas to get here because my hubby is making me wait to open the CD's I ordered from you!! Can't wait to crack those open and pop them in to play on Christmas morning...
My little girl audibly gasped when she saw you in the red tutu. She says it's her new favorite thing, so it looks like whether I win this one or not, I'm in the market for a red tutu for Christmas!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I make something (small) for each of my kids. I know they cherish them more than the toys and dvds and everything else that gets lost.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My favorite holiday tradition is doing the 12 Days of Christmas for others. We visit each night, from Dec. 13th-24th and drop off goodies or gifts in accordance to a poem. We have been doing it for 23 years, which has been our whole married life. While we are able to afford gifts this year due to unemployment for 2 years, we elected to continue our tradition, with some modifications to still make it fun and meaningful for the families we have carefully selected. Christmas does not seem like Christmas until we start this wonderful tradition each year.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Every Christmas my Momma makes us pajama pants, which we all open on Christmas Eve. I now have several pairs of flannel pajama pants which are the envy of all my friends!

By the way Mindy, I did not know you had a blog! So glad you tweeted about the tutu today!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Every Christmas me and my family would get together with friends, and we would all have a nice dinner party at our place.. Along with games and good conversations!

    ReplyDelete
  59. We have a birthday party for my great granny on Christmas eve. Lots of family come and we eat yummy food, laugh like crazy and have the talent show of all talent shows! It's my favorite tradition.

    ReplyDelete
  60. We get together and pull taffy and make homemade candy with my grandma and all my cousins! We keep track of how we did every year and read them out loud. They are usually pretty funny!

    ReplyDelete
  61. My family, (the Rueckerts) are Swedish, and December 13th is Santa Lucia day! This is when the oldest girl in the family wakes up early and wears a white dress with a red sash and a crown of candles in her hair and brings breakfast on a tray to everyone in the house. We usually don't do it in the morning, but in the evenings we get together with our siblings and sing the Swedish Santa Lucia song! It's something i'll definitely carry on with my future family :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Now that I have my own little family, my favorite tradition is when Santa's sneaky Elves visit our house on Christmas Eve. They leave us our Christmas pajamas, hang real candy canes on the tree and hide a few goodies around the house while we are out. When we get back in the late afternoon from family gatherings, there are always new pjs waiting for us! We love those Elves.
(My daughters listen to you in the car & their room...we can't wait to see the video--I was there racing with you!:)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Snuggling up with my hubby and his family Christmas eve night and watching Polar Express while dirnking hot chocolate. Even though we are all grown, it still makes us excited for Santa and all the surprises to come in the morning!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Every Christmas Eve my husband reads the Christmas Story out of the bible while our children act out the parts of Mary, Joseph and the Baby Jesus. But then they double as the donkey, angles, wise men and shepherds. Sometimes it gets a little irreverent, like the time Mary clocked Joseph for pushing her of the donkey...and when Joseph got mad at the Shepherd for stepping on his robe and the baby Jesus fell out of the manger...we all started laughing so hard we could barely finish the story. But, it is something we look forward to ever year. It just wouldn't be Christmas without it.

  65. Making chocolate dipped pretzels and oreos and giving them to our neighbours :)

  66. My favorite tradition is going to see the nutcracker with my daughter. How darling would it be if she won the tutu

    ReplyDelete
  67. *I posted this already on FB, but decided I should repost it here just in case :).

My daughter is just that size and would absolutely LOVE it!
My favorite family tradition is going to see the lights on Temple Square on Christmas Eve. It's what Christmas is all about for me, being there on the temple grounds and enjoying the Spirit of the season. Now that I have children of my own it means even more to me to continue on with this tradition. I love sharing it with my own family!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Growing up, my favorite tradition was helping my mom make Swedish pancakes for breakfast (they're sort of like crepes). Now as an adult, our tradition is spending Christmas Eve with hubby's family, opening our own presents Christmas morning (and making the pancakes myself), and then traveling to see my family later that day. It's always busy, but I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  69. What a great giveaway! Our tradition is to cram as many relatives as we can in grandma's house for an evening of food and board games. Christmas eve at grandma's house is the highlight of the season!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ooooo, so so many great family traditions, I simply can't pick just one. I have loved reading about every elses!
First of all, Christmas cookies...my favorites are Springerle, a german cookie with anise seeds on bottom, they are Delish!
Second, since my husband is from Mexico, we do 1/2 of Christmas with a more Mexican flair and 1/2 of it more American. Including a Christmas Eve with all traditional Mexican food...YUM! and a Christmas Day with all the traditional American fixings...YUM!
We also believe in Santa Claus in our home, and he comes Christmas Eve...he leaves gifts for the kids, and always a BOOK for the FAMILY. It is generally a very beautiful book that focuses on Christ or other of his attributes. It has been a beautiful traidition for our family for more than 10 years (well, since we've been married!). When we finish all of the usually Christmas gift unwrapping, we start the relaxing portion of Christmas Day by reading our book from Santa.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Our favorite Christmas tradition is that we eat by candlelight every night during the month of December. My kids look forward to it all year.

  72. hot chocolate, homemade churros and sopapillas christmas eve. Can't wait to see the video!

  73. If we change our traditions from year to year, is it a tradition?
When I was a little girl living with my grandparents I would love to go doorbell ditch friends after leaving a plate of goodies on their doorstep. We did this for years. When I had my own children, we did something similar by delivering every night the 12 days of Christmas.

The last few years, we have had a hard time doing that the last few years with more kids and more stress and the need to simplify a little more. So we keep testing out new traditions that center around Christ and giving. We keep a Christmas Jar for our loose change and then donate that money at the end of the year. This year we are trying harder to focus on service in secret to those around us.

I have four girls that would absolutely LOVE a cute frivolous Tutu right now. I could just see them dancing with it to your Anchors CD.

    Misti

    Looking forward to your video.

  74. Every year I make my family a video montage with the years photos and videos. It's fun and hilarious to reminisce about all we've done in the past year.

  75. Our family makes sugar cookies and decorates them. We use different cookie cutters that relate to Christmas. Its been a tradition in my family since I can remember. This year my mom passed away, so I took over the tradition. I made 193 cookies this year for all my family, and my siblings and their family to decorate. It was a great way to remember my mom, and enjoy the Christmas holiday too. :)

  76. My absolute most memorable and favorite Christmas tradition is making caramel corn with my family and deliver it to our neighbors by caroling door to door. Nothing brings the spirit of Christmas like singing hymns!

  77. We bake a baby Jesus birthday cake. Plain pound cake--simple like His beginning and life; round circle--representing His love without end; 3 red candles--red for His blood and 3 for the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

  78. I love to spend Christmas Eve at my parents' house. We go to the Children's mass at church. Then we come home and eat dinner. Santa always arrives a little early and we open presents with my two kids. We end the evening with chocolate fondue and put the kids in their new Christmas pajamas for the ride home.

  81. I have a ton of favorite Christmas Traditions. One is driving around through different neighborhoods and looking at all the lights! We like to make comments on the decorations on the front lawn as well!

    ReplyDelete
  82. We roast a pig, Cuban-style for a sweet Noche Buena. And this year we have started a new tradition where we desperately try to get the 5YO in bed without a screaming, banshee, fit. (It's the gift that would keep on giving, should it ever happen.)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Gathering at my grandpa's knee to hear him read Luke 2. It always brought the focus right back to where it ought to have been all along.

  84. You have a few people interested in that TUTU baby! :) I love reading everyone's traditions, gives me good ideas or makes me feel like a slacker in this area, one of the two!
I wrote my tradition on FB at http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=810549505309&set=a.810549500319.2414115.17823631&ref=nf#!/notes/mindy-gledhill/los-12-dias-de-navidad-a-giveaway/467834966956

Visually myself running in our school's fundraiser 5K wearing my RED tutu! :) Side-note unrelated to the giveaway...My husband is an audiophile w/ a very expensive stereo system. He told me he wanted the REAL Anchor CD vs. the iTunes version, so he could play it in our theater room. He didn't have to tell me twice, I bought 6 of them so I could share with friends too. :) After listening to it in his man cave--His words, "It sounds exquisite..."

  85. My favorites are:

advent calendars (especially the homemade kind - such as a red candle with 25 white dots down one side; you burn down one dot each day while reading part of the Christmas story from the scriptures) opening a gift of Christmas jammies on Christmas eve and opening one gift as a family on Christmas morning - picture of the Savior on display, while reading the story "The Christmas Story"... brings me to tears every time. Love it!

    Merry Christmas, Mindy! <3
