Remember the awesome illustrations in my Anchor music video? Remember the very talented April Meeker who did them? Remember how she also designs jewelry? I love April's jewelry. Her company, Second Sister Jewelry, has some of the most beautiful and artsy designs ever. Today, April has been so generous as to offer this charm bracelet for my giveaway.
Feast your eyes:I'm looking for song ideas for a forthcoming Christmas album. To win this darling bracelet, give me the name of a Christmas song that you'd like to hear me cover or make up a title for one that you'd like me to write. Don't forget to leave your full name with your song idea! The winner will be chosen late Monday night (which is also the deadline to order any CDs on my site that you'd like me to sign, wrap and ship to you for Christmas!).
The following pieces have long been sold, but are some of my personal favorites that April has designed:
Last year at Christmas time, I came to a small little concert put on by Chris Clark, who is in my ward. I was there with Clark Checketts, his nephew, at Chris's parents' house. I remember that you sang Winter Song by Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles with Chris while he played, and I absolutely LOVED it. That song has always been one of my favorites, and while it's not necessarily a Christmas song, I adored the way you sounded with it and I think it would be a lovely addition to a Christmas CD.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely have to check out your friend's site when I get a minute. I love the pics you posted! Okay.....it's probably one of the most sung Christmas songs ever, but it will forever be my favorite. I would love to hear "Oh Holy Night". Your beautiful voice combined with that amazing song will equal WONDERFUL!
ReplyDelete"It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" and/or "Once in Royal David's City" and/or "The Nativity Song." All would be made gorgeous-er from your interpretation.
ReplyDeleteScott Livingston - thx!
'Carol of the Stable Dog' by Corlynn Hanney. The version below is not my favourite. I've heard it sung by a female with accoustic guitar accompaniment, which had more of a folk song feel. Really moving, and with your voice, it would be beautiful!

ReplyDeleteRiver by Sarah McLachlan!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness? Will you really read all of these and get to mine? :)
ReplyDeleteAfter listening to your cd nonstop as well as on the treadmill this morning at the gym, I think the perfect, fun song for you to do is Andy Williams' "Its the most wonderful time of the year." It's such a happy song...and so is your music! <3
Julie @ mahlerama@aol.com
You must do "Winter Snow" by Audrey Assad! It is soooooo pretty, simple, uplifting, and yet very powerful! I can't get enough of it! It's not a very common song; I would love to see it get more attention!

jen s
You know what song I would love to hear you sing is the one called "Christmas Children." It is the prettiest song and very magical. You would be FANTASTIC singing that song! Cute bracelet's by the way!
ReplyDeleteExisting carol suggestion:
ReplyDelete1. A very folksy, earthy version of "What Child is This?" Maybe w/ a banjo or a uke, who am I to say, I just love those instruments and your voice along w/ them, they just fit. :)
2. I also think a Vampire Weekend type version of any fun holiday song would be a refreshing version to listen to.
As for a Christmas song that you could write: Something on Simplicity sounds good. Some of the most important things in life and even symbols of this season come back to true simplicity. Therefore, I'm dreaming of a simple, sweet melody that speaks to those of us who are overloaded--that there is beauty in simplicity as well. Maybe if it's spoken musically in such a poetic way, I won't feel so guilty about the things I'm not able to do, especially during the holidays. :)
“Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.” - Plato
ANYTHING....you could sing any Christmas tune and we would all be happy!
ReplyDelete"Silent Night" would be magical as well as "O Holy Night" for sure....the oldies but goodies.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
