The cover for my new album, "Anchor," was photographed by Wendy Whitacre and designed by Jed Wells.
A week from today, I will celebrate a year's worth of writing.
A year's worth of soul-searching.
A year's worth of dreaming.
A year's worth of scheming.
A year's worth of wondering.
A year's worth of sweating.
Four weeks of Telefunkens.
Four weeks of Hammonds.
Four weeks of Canadians (and one Southerner).
Four weeks of host families and hotels.
Four weeks of Los Angeles.
And four weeks of happiness.
As part of the festivities, I'm posting my new album, "Anchor," for you to preview from now until it releases next week. Just click play on the music player to the right. Thanks for all your support during this time and happy listening.
P.S. For a chance to buy the album before it releases in stores, come celebrate with me at my release concert on Monday, August 2nd at the Covey Center in Provo at 7:30 p.m.! For tickets, call (801) 852-7007 or buy online at www.coveycenter.org.
P.P.S. How do I stay balanced with all this stuff and be a mom at the same time? C'mon. Do you really think I have all the answers to that? Not really. But I have found a few things that work for our family. Read about it today on www.makeitworkmom.com!

It sounds awesome! ¡Genial!
ReplyDeleteMy toddler and I were dancing around. Love it.
ReplyDeleteAfter listening to your songs...I love your album photos even more...they fit so well!! I'm excited for you!
ReplyDeleteYou just made my day! I love it, love it, love it! Next week cannot come soon enough- I can't wait to have my very own copy! You just ooze with talent my dear!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! I love the album cover, and I love the music! Spectacular!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you, Mindy. Keeping up on your progress has made me feel sort of like it's mine (just sort of cuz, it's really only in my dreams that I could be as cool as you). Congratulations! I can't wait to buy the album for myself for my birthday.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter (she's 2) suddenly started walking around the house singing "My garlic today" and I was so confused until I realized...
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves "I Do Adore" and plays it over and over... the line "my darling today" could be misinterpreted by little ears... Makes me laugh.
Hooray!!!! I pre-ordered this from deseret sooo long ago and I can't believe it is finally coming out! Love it, this got me even more pumped!
ReplyDeletecan't stop listening... great work! (as per usual!!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting your album! Just started listening to the first song! That reminds me, what happened to the contest that you "won"? (Did you actually win?)
ReplyDeleteMy Telefunken is broken! :( I loved looking at that green light, so I better try to get it fixed!
Knock 'em dead at the concert! Wish I could come, but a bit too far!
Well, thy ended up canceling SLC along with 11 other cities on the tour. They weren't selling enough tickets. Blah. Thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteThanks to EVERYONE for all the kind words!
I"M GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited! As soon as I saw, I said "MOM!!!! I HAVE TO GO!!!!!!! We're coming up from North Salt Lake, and I'm bringing a friend who introduced me to you. I am absolutely THRILLED!!! You did fabulous! I love your new album- I don't know if those are all the songs on the album, but I love the songs! You are wonderful! I'm sorry you couldn't sell enough tickets.
ReplyDeleteArica (as in my sister who lives at your house) showed me some of the new songs on youtube. This is exactly the type of music I love. I am so excited!!! And, I love the album artwork. The release can't come quick enough. :)
ReplyDeleteCassie, I'm so glad that you're coming! But, what are you talking about with tickets? The show isn't until next Monday and most people buy tickets the day of, so I'm looking forward to a pretty full house. It's gonna be fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Mindy,
ReplyDeleteI think Cassie read your previous post in regards to the contest you won, where "they" (i.e. not you!) didn't sell enough tickets.
I'm sure there will just be standing room only once the day of your concert arrives! (How could it not sell out, when it's for such a good cause!) I'm sure they'll have to get extra security to keep the fans from rushing the stage! :) (And I hope you sell a ton of CDs there!)
Dude. I love this album. And I would totally be there for the concert, but it is on a weekday, which means I would have to come to Utah WITH my kid, and no one can make me travel with her again this soon. Boo to weekdays, yay to your new album!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing, Mindy. I so appreciate that you gave us a preview. I love your lyrics. I just smile when I listen. So looking forward to Monday's concert.
ReplyDeleteLa Yen, first of all, thank you. Second of all, I don't blame you. Third of all, you are a champion for even wanting to come out here! It will be great to meet you someday. I shall treat you to lunch when that day comes.
ReplyDeleteMindy - I can't get enough of this album! My girls and I have the words memorized and we can't sit still while listening! You're a talented woman. Congratulations on a wonderful album!!!
ReplyDeleteYou already know I adore the album! Hoping to bring the family down Monday night, or at least take my girls!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I don't live in Utah. I love your music. I love your style...when I try to describe it for people, I never can prescribe it to a specific genre. It's just happy. You're right up there with my favorites...Zee Avi, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, Emiliana Torrini, etc...
ReplyDeleteI like to listen to your music when I am working out my illustrations. You inspire me. Thanks.
This is different Mindy but your music is still great! i love your music and style.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till Monday.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your songs! I have been listening to them all day. I can not wait to buy your album. Your voice is just so pure and amazing!
ReplyDeleteHey, you know who I love? You. All of you. Without you, I wouldn't be able to make records. Thank you for all of your sweet comments. xo
ReplyDeleteMindy! I absolutely loved your new album! I listened to it over and over again at work today, put me in the best mood! Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent! See you monday!
ReplyDeleteok, well Im waaaaaaaaay down here in New Zealand and I've been playing your preview over and over and my 15 month old girl and 4 year old girl and husband ( who by the way is fussy when it comes to music ) have been "jamming"to your sounds all week. One of the songs is sooo fitting for the way we feel this week. My husband's sister died on Sunday and it's been a pretty solemn week. "This is my song" will always be loved in my house. So, I shall do the best advertisement ever and play play play your songs down here. Love your work and especially love the music. Keep it coming. oxo
ReplyDeleteOh, Cherie, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law! I wrote that song for a neighbor of mine who passed away. But I'm glad to hear that you've been enjoying the CD. My parents used to live in Aukland. We loved it over there when we went to visit!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting the preview. You sold me! I've got it on order. Life has been a little wearying lately and your songs just lifted me right up :o)
ReplyDeleteYour work is beatiful. I would have loved to come to your release concert but it is a little far from my home. I have to get a copy of your CD. I want ringtones too! Do you think they'll be available?
ReplyDeleteAJ
My claim to fame? Wendy is my cousin. I taught her everything she knows....about 80's music. Not photography.
ReplyDelete:)
Mindy, You have such a beautiful voice! I love your music :) I can't wait to get your new album! YAY!
ReplyDeleteI love your lyrics! They are beautiful and sincere. The music is so uplifting and happy I have loved listening to it all week with my four year old and one year old who dance along and twirl around. What a wonderful album! I love every song!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new CD! Just bought a copy from Deseret book. Thx for sharing it beforehand!
ReplyDeletelove your music-- you have an amazing voice! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's a really pretty cover but you should give credit where credit is due. That image is almost an exact copy of Candice Stringham's photograph of Naomi Davis that was posted all over the web a year ago. I don't know if the idea was yours or the photographers but it's not good copy someone else so closely without even acknowledging it.
ReplyDeleteHi "Anonymous." I've actually never heard of Candice Stringham or Naomi Davis. I googled their names together and didn't find anything. Do you have a link? I'd be interested in seeing the photo you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteDear Mindy-
ReplyDeleteI am now a new fan through word of mouth :). Thanks for the great music- so nice to have happy, clean music that is skilled and up-to-date too. Sweet of you to share your gifts this way- thanks!
P.S. Do you ever play in California?
Hi, im 11, and i really really love your songs! they are so catchy and i like the lyrics.
