Thanksgiving and Doobies

I know we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but I always get the Christmas spirit WAY too early. My office looks like a whirlwind blew through Santa's workshop with all the CDs I've been wrapping and mailing. (Yeah, I have a 2 for $20 Christmas special going on with FREE gift wrapping on all orders at www.mindygledhill.com). It's a good thing that wrapping presents is a favorite activity of mine.
Also, I've been waiting for a year to put up these glass stars that my mother-in-law gave me for Christmas last year. I got all domestic and crafty and hung them with different colored ribbons.
I inherited an obsession with vintage Christmas ornaments from my mom. I found this man in rural Utah who lives in an abandoned bus. He is a hoarder and always sells junk in front of his bus. I bought a whole box of amazing vintage ornaments from him for $10!!! Beware: he may or may not roll homemade doobies right before your eyes while you barter with him. But doobies aside, these ornaments look awesome in a bowl or hanging in my window with the glass stars.
If you were disappointed that I didn't post something on gratitude or Thanksgiving, then fear not! I am honored to be a guest blogger today for Jenn Warnick on www.makeitmyown.blogspot.com. Also, Jenn is doing a giveaway for my new album, Anchor, so hop on over to her blog. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

P.S. Just saw that my friend Cjane, posted a video of me and some of the Lower Lights singing "For the Beauty of the Earth." This is my favorite song at Thanksgiving time. Go here to watch. Go here to buy the actual recording. Peace out.

  3. Mindy, Are you named after Great Grandma Eva Merinda Thompson? My grandmother was Edith Merinda Harward. I sure wish I had her Christmas ornaments. They were beautiful. I remember she had some beautiful white doves. I love your stars!

  4. your affinity for vintage/antique ornaments rocks! i have some from my childhood, and others from my mom's childhood. but where i really scored? when i married my husband! for during our first married-Christmas we inherited a whole tote of vintage ornies that were HIS mother's (she passed away when we were 6, and they had just sat in storage for 16 years). i wish she were here, but since having her ornaments & her son in my life is as close as i'll get, then i'm grateful for what bits of her legacy ARE in my life! :) have a great rest of the week.
