My online publicist pressed the issue claiming that it would be "good for business." I resisted. She started one for me--even wrote the posts herself, bless her heart. But that didn't feel very authentic and I hate feeling like a faker. So I started writing. Little by little I began to remember how much I love creative writing. Now it seems, I am a pathetic blogging maniac--always checking my friends' blogs for updates and re-checking my own for any sign of a comment. Ridiculous. Please, blogging veterans, tell me it gets old.
This blog is to be a place where I can just be Mindy; a place where there's no expectation to put my best foot forward. Expect off the cuff remarks, photo essays highlighting the rotten food and mountain of dishes in the sink, and a promise of the most CRA-ZAY (as Hailey would say) family pics you've ever seen. But please, also expect shared inspiration, music topics, and interviews with the down-to-earth people that I love.
Tomorrow will be my first Fam Friday post. Each Friday I will introduce you to a member of my family. Get ready for some seriously shocking photos . . .
Mindy and sisters Angi (middle) and Vicki (right). Backpacking trip, Olympic Coast, WA.
ah, i love the winkel girls
ReplyDeletei'm enjoying reading about the "real" you! FYI, you can set blogger to email you when you receive a comment (so you don't have to check your blog all day long).
ReplyDeleteIf it will make you feel better...it's been a LONG time since I mopped the wood floors. And, the only way I know how to parent is by the seat of my pants, I start tons of parenting books and never get passed the first or second chapter.
I can't wait for Fam Friday!
ReplyDeletei for one love love love the real mindy. bring 'er on! :)
ReplyDeleteI think there is a little bit in all of us that makes us feel loved when someone leaves a comment! I feel the same way you do when others have nothing but wonderful things to say about their life. I started my blog to blog about ANYTHING I was feeling at the moment... it's those moments good or bad that make a good blog... in my professional opinion of course! blog away my dear, blog away.... :)
ReplyDeleteYes please, I like the irreverent Mindy a.k.a Sherman.
ReplyDeleteLove Sherm
Cute sisters! I wish I could say it gets old, but I'm still sort of a blogophile after 3 years of doing it. But it does come and go in spurts. Also, I love your writing, and I'm a true believer that your blog can be whatever you want it to be (ESPECIALLy if it happens to be about food and/or Sawyer...)
ReplyDeleteI wandered over here from an old mission buddy (pincock) and I really must say that your was inspiring for my friend. She's not a member but drove up to Provo to support the Nie's. She asked if all mormon women could sing like that... so I sang a couple verses of a Primary song for her and her response was, "Oh, I guess not." :0) She said the concert and night was wonderful! Have a good Valentine's Day, hope your Glediator makes you smile!
ReplyDeleteApparently I didn't proof read that comment before I posted it. It should say that you were inspiring to my friend...blah blah blah sorry
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that with me Melissa!
