Things That Make My Day - Cucumber/Celery Juice

Meet Arica Young - the girl downstairs.

Recently, I fell into the trap of focusing on all the things that aren't happening for me, instead of all the things that are. I've come to learn that when I only see what is not going well, then it's almost always a reflection of what is not right within myself. In addition, when I'm acutely aware of what is frustrating me, my energy attracts more frustrating events; and the downward spiral continues. I've had an unusual amount of experiences where I've felt like people in my life have been falling short in their commitments to me. So, today I asked myself: Am I falling short in MY commitments to me? And the answer was inevitably: Yes.

This afternoon, I had the blessing of talking this through with a friend while regrouping my commitments to myself in the areas of spirituality, work, family and health. It's amazing how quickly good things start happening for me (or rather, how quickly I start acknowledging them), after I simply look within myself for what is amiss, instead of what is amiss in others.

Minutes after I experienced this shift in my outlook, I heard a knock at the door. It was Arica, the beautiful surfer girl who rents my basement apartment. She made some fresh cucumber/celery juice and wanted to share the extra with me. This just really made my day and reminded me that life is good and there is so much more to come.

(And speaking of more to come, I will be doing random postings, whenever I feel the urge, about "Things that Make My Day." Feel free to share what makes your day in the comments section below).

  1. Today it was the fact that I had all the uninterrupted time I needed to study! A quiet house....ahhh. Sounds lame, but it totally made my day!

  2. When I am in a hurry to go to work at night (not really wanting to go), and my sweet little 3 year old daughter says, "But Mom, you forgot to give me a kiss...and a hug...and tell me you love me..." It makes me stop and remember what is more important. And plus I get all of those 3 wonderful things back from her!!! Love it!

  4. Your CD makes my day, every day since I got it in the mail from Amazon!!! I'm a big So You Think You Can Dance fan- I think you should have one of your Anchor CD's sent to Stacy Tookey, one of their choreographers! I hear your music and imagine her choreography. No one had heard the song "Jar of Hearts" until it was on that show and then it shot up the charts!! K, I will watch for you on the show now. :)

  9. Life is so good and you made a special day all that more special with your music. My daughter was married 2 weeks ago. She has Bipolar, but has been well for 1 1/2 years. The Lord has blessed her with a beautiful husband that will learn the delicate dance that we have learnt as her parents. Her Bridal Waltz was to your song All About Your Heart. The first lines of that song said it all. I cried as they danced knowing the full impact of those beautiful words on the life that they now share together. Thank you and my the Lord continue to bless you with inspiration for music that changes peoples hearts.
