Demo Songs

I have been writing some new songs lately. But I am rusty and it has taken me a few months to write four songs. FOUR! ¡Sí! ¡CUATRO! Today I took them into the studio to demo them up.

Ryan Tilby is such a pleasure to work with, I must say. He can learn songs on the spot, switch instruments and transpose anything at the drop of a hat. Sheesh!

I sent the songs to my producer today and he thought we could use two of them. TWO!

And I think he was probably right to pick two. But me oh my, I need a miracle to write some new songs by mid-next week. Songs that will slay you. Can those of you with supernatural, energy-healing, crystal-reading powers send your good vibes in my direction? Much obliged.

  1. Guess what else comes in fours (aka amazing): Kit Kat sticks, The Beatles, and the classic elements (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water).

Not to be a "Debbie Downer" but what if you recorded a sad holiday song for those who struggle with being happy during the season. There's sometimes a lot of loneliness, death, and tragedy during December. I really enjoy "Santa Will Find You" By Mindy Smith. Perhaps a cover of that song?

  3. I am SO excited to hear more of your songs! I kept telling my husband, after the rooftop concert, that I am so excited to hear more of your work. We listen to your CD that came out in August ALL the time. If it helps, I really love that in that CD, you kind of went through different stages of life and love and family, and told stories through your songs.

  5. i haven't a song or lyrics for you. i wish i were a magician and could solve all your worries with the wave of my hand and the right words.... alas, for some reason the only words in my cavernous brain is 'honey'.... not as in the eternal companion sense but in the sweet, amber'd & drizzling sense. probably, most definitely NOT the right magic words. but, lately i'm addicted to it, so i guess that makes sense. best of blessings in the next few days to come. ::hugs::

  7. Maybe a song about you're upcoming baby. Lots of women can relate to that-and I'm sure you'd make it beautiful.
