Here's what I thought about the Grammys:
1.) I am a serious slob (clue: the drawers under my TV).
2.) I'm glad you don't have to be skinny anymore to be a pop star.
3.) Elton John's right earlobe must be considerably longer than his left.
3.) Lady Gaga is one gutsy chica.
4.) I'm not really one to cover my lady parts with glitter, but Pink's performance was amazing.
5.) Beyoncé wins everything, but she surely seems like a nice gal; never conceited and always grateful.
6.) Taylor Swift can't sing in tune, but there's something sort of endearing about that.
Care to contradict me? What did YOU think about the Grammys?

Can't say I watched the Grammys, but reading about performances on your blog makes me wish I had! Instead I spent time looking at all the pretty (and NOT so pretty) dresses :) http://ow.ly/12rGr
ReplyDeleteCorrect on ALL counts. You know, I feel bad for Taylor, I think she's adorable, but it's just PAINFUL to watch her sing live!
ReplyDeleteI'll contradict you - you are not a slob. :)
ReplyDeleteSarah, I want to know what dresses you liked!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Tristi, I was referring to those drawers under my TV. :-)
Haha! I totally concur! I loved Pink's performance, and Taylor Swift's live performance actually made me cringe. While she's a talented girl, she sure can't sing very well.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch it and no Taylor Swift can't sing in tune for some reason. But there is just something about her voice and the songs she sings that makes me love, love her.
ReplyDeleteThe only grammies that I ever really respected were the technical ones. You know, the ones that they said were presented "earlier in another ceremony" because nobody else really cares about them?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I always say that Taylor Swift isn't in tune, but my sister says I'm just being mean. Now I have some backup! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNo contradictions here. Except I do have to admit that I have had an actual nightmare of Lady Gaga after watching her perform for an awards show. But I also have to admit I am addicted to her music. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat you said about Taylor Swift's singing is right on.
I only saw a little bit of the Grammy's and it happened to be Taylor Swift singing. I was sure she was singing out of tune, but then I'm not very good at hearing that. Now after reading your account of the Grammy's I see I knew what I was talking about. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeletepink made andrew feel uncomfortable (naturally, i mean she was practically nude), but she gave me the CHILLLLLS, SOOOOO AMAZING!! we'll see you up there someday, in more than a glittery thong. (;
ReplyDeleteRascal Flatts can't hit a note either (although he tries everyone before he lands on another wrong one). I can't stand listening to them live, but...I love them after the studio works them over.
ReplyDeleteAnd, they are wildly popular.
I don't know. I never watch that sort of stuff. Bores me to death.
ReplyDeleteMindy,
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear Taylor either, but please, I think soooo many of these pop stars need a lot of mixing and fine-tuning before they actually sound good. (I once heard Madonna singing something live and was appalled.) And if they put themselves up on the stage in front of millions of viewers, they are asking for critiques. So there.
Thinking further, I think that it's the over-processing that makes us so critical and unforgiving. We're so used to the finished product, that the performers can never live up to their own hype.
Okay, I came to this post late..but how is it that people who can't sing on tune become famous for singing? Is it just because they can't really hear the music because it's playing so loud? Do they really have great voices, but get messed up with all the techonology going on? No one on Idol ever lets the contestants get away with singing off-key.
ReplyDeleteOf course, there are people in a vampire movie who can't really act, but they got the part anyway!
